R&D Tax Relief

Research and development projects which will provide an advance in science and technology with innovative solutions are often subject to Tax relief. R&D Tax Credits can be claimed by a range of companies that seek to research and develop an advance in their field, even if the project was unsuccessful. If your project meets the R&D definition criteria, Corporation Tax relief can be claimed.

What counts as R&D?

The work that qualifies for R&D relief must be part of a specific project to make an advance in science or technology and relate to the company trade – an existing one or one you plan to startup based on the results of the R&D.

What can be claimed?

Depending on the company size, different types of R&D relief are available.

Small and medium-sized enterprises: SME R&D Relief

Large companies: Research and Development Expenditure Credit
