Beware of the SEISS email scams

Following on the SEISS grant 4 (covering the period from 1^st February 2021 to 30^th April 2021), a series of emails started emerging, usually named ‘HMRC SEISS Tax Refund Notification’ or similar. The emails seem quite genuine, carrying the Gov.uk logo, having the same formatting and everything else which would easily convince the recipient that the email is actually coming from HMRC.

This is related to the new phishing campaign which the HMRC is aware of and advises not to reply or open any links in the message received. HMRC will never send notifications by email about tax rebates or refunds. Self-employed individuals should be advised that one of the known phishing email IDs is support@access.service.gov.uk.
